So-Ra-No-Wo-To Episode 5 – Damn kids, when I was in the army…

Not like I’ve been feeling like picking up episodic blogging but SoraWoto’s fifth episode managed to bring up some not so nice memories of my time of service in the Finnish Defense Forces. Now I sorta know the feeling all the Finnish fathers have when they tell their sons how it was so much tougher back in their day and that conscripts these days are weak and stupid. In fact I claim that whoever hasn’t been through the luxury of military service doesn’t really get much out of this episode.

What Is This I Don’t Even – Sankaku Complex A “Chinese Newspaper”

The face I’m making right now. And it won’t stop.
So I was spending the night browsing Kuvalauta, desperately hoping the insomnia would finally leave me alone so I could get at least a few hours of rest before 2010’s first working day. And then I came across this.

Holy Bollocks! Momoi Halko Announced As Desucon ‘10 Guest of Honor

Oh hell yeah!
I suppose I’m somewhat late with this but truth be told, I wasn’t exactly hovering around at Desucon’s site tapping F5 to see who’s coming over this year. And I sure as hell didn’t expect to see the Queen of Akihabara up there. The English version of the site isn’t up to date yet, so the Finnish version is all I can link to – but I’m sure it gives you some idea. Apparently she is going to participate in some panels, give autographs and most of all, have a concert. Looks like I have a good reason to haul my ass over to Desucon again next summer.
Twelve Moments Post 5 – Needs Moar Desu
Herp derp, here we go with the fifth post on Twelve Moments. I apologize for the delay – I was rather busy moving my stuff over to my family’s house for Christmas. School’s out as you know, and it’s time to work! Hell yeah! Now I can start paying off the credit card debt from the Singapore trip. Life is fabulous! HAHAHA HAHA HA haha haa…

Twelve Moments Post 4 – When They Cried
Exams are completed and the Unlimited Harvesting Works has finally been dealt with. Wood procurement matrices and other shit like that are the past now…at least until I retake the tests. Anyway, my second to the last semester has concluded and now it’s pretty much the Final Thesis that still stands in my way to unemployment. Hell yeah. Now on to today’s topic at hand. We’re already 1/3 through the Twelve Days to Christmas thingy, so this will be the last memory of mine from last spring and next we’ll move up to the summer 2009.

Nova’s Blog Discoveries – Finnish Comics Dissected

I don’t read blogs all that much. In fact, the only blog I check on a regular basis is my own. But sometimes I just get bored enough to go on a stroll around the blogosphere and every now and then something interesting comes up. Finnish Comics Dissected is a unique blog in the Finnish scene – it is a small blog written in English about Finnish comics. And I thought it deserves a post due to its unique nature and the drama it has managed to stir up, so here we are.

The Desu-Effect – Nova’s Desucon Report

So Desucon happened and as I promised, I was there to witness it. Desucon appeared to challenge the traditional anime conventions in Finland with such radical ideas as an attendance fee and complete absence of a cosplay contest. Did it succeed? Let’s find out.
