Five Tro-uh, Authors I Would Recruit If I Had The Chance

This is like the anime blogger version of “Five chicks I’d totally date if they weren’t popular and thus only into jocks“, but with less nerd angst so don’t worry.

I think it was the rise of THAT that made team blogs a trendy thing. At the time I scoffed at this foolishness of rounding up a bunch of random faggots under the same banner, challenging the old saying about too many cooks spoiling the broth. Maybe I was bitter back then, because team blogs tended to become quite popular. And obviously so – they could cover several fields of interest and maintain a good posting pace without exhausting the authors. For a while I was considering recruiting writers myself just to see how it works, but I was rather reluctant to try working with people I didn’t know from before. As for people who I did knew, all were already busy with their own blogs that were mostly more popular than mine.

After utterly exhausting whatever there was left to milk of ABT’s carcass, I was struck with this stupid idea of hypothetical thinking. So yeah, I decided to list five bloggers who I would name as the best candidates for the job of a co-author on Jinx!.

Lupus-sol

An #AB ancientfag and a former author from THAT, Lupus’ rants on anime and its retarded fandom provided me with most of the inspiration that got me going back in ’07. He has long since retired, saying that he’s got nothing more to say on stuff. Of course one could say that the blogging spirit never truly dies, and I know Lupus has talent for writing dynamic (read: trollish) text, but if he ever feels like it he can just go back to writing for THAT.

tj_han

The man from RIUVA – the second anime blog I happened to stumble upon. Back in ’07 tj’s posts were a great source of inspiration for me and I remember several occasions of thinking “Hell, I wish if I could write like this“. They were also quite educational on the fandom and ‘sphere that I was only beginning to grasp at the time. Like Lupus, tj has a great talent for writing lengthy but dynamic posts without trying to be nice or politically correct. He’s been rather inactive lately, unfortunately.

hikago

Author from Short Circuited and probably the only one among these five who’s less known than I am. hikago’s style differs quite a bit from the former two – he excels at concise meta-humor and abstract jokes contained in a couple paragraphs at most – sometimes in none at all. He also has a great eye for making humorous charts. I’ve had talks with him about some kind of collaboration blogging project, maybe we’ll get something done this summer.

niidel

Nearly all of his posts contain Hitler. Nuff said. But seriously, niidel is sort of the Finnish equivalent to Lupus and tj. As is the tradition in the Finnish anime blogging sphere, he writes long and analytic posts, but in a fittingly aggressive tone and with some pretty great headlines (Cosplayers are shallow, duplicitous and dumb). He doesn’t hesitate to throw in jokes either and is especially fond of obscure Finnish internet memes. Even though at the first glance his text seems simply aggressive and elitist, you can sense a big coolface grinning at you between the lines. All in all he has a great sense of humor and doesn’t take things too seriously – the essentials of surviving the war zone of internet.

JTFish

Quit wanking to Desuhi and start posting already you faggot.

    So your ideal team blog is a team of meme using trolls?

  2. NovaJinx says:

    @Scamp

    Sounds better than The Episodic Team Blog #15344. It won’t be winning any tourneys but that’s the price I’d be willing to pay.

  3. Ryan A says:

    LOL. I know three of five are quite intelligent, so this makes sense (I’m not familiar with niidel, and Fish is made of bean paste). @Scamp it makes sense when considering their minds/potential and not their style.

  4. niidel says:

    Ryan A: DURR HURR I AM VERY INTELIGENT

    PS. NAZI HITLER SATAN 666 TORMENT

  5. It would only work well if you all posted together (like Epic Win), versus merely being an aggregator hosting only six individual blogs (which is what a “team blog” with six people posting separately really is).

  6. Impz says:

    So, I am not good enough to be in your imaginary team of bloggers. You stink, fricking troll-jinx :<

  7. NovaJinx says:

    @Michael

    Yes, that’s one reason why I haven’t gone all that serious with this. Coordination like that actually requires quite a lot of effort and time.

    @impz

    I was actually thinking about that, it’d balance the team a bit if there was one nice guy in the mix. In the end however I decided to include niidel instead. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t accept if you really did want to write for me. How about it? You just gotta get used to having about 1/100th of THAT’s readership ;)

  8. drmchsr0 says:

    And again, I’m left out :(

  9. kluxorious says:

    I’m surprise baka wasn’t in the list

  10. casval says:

    Five Tro-uh, Authors whose wee wee i would suck if i had the chance <– fixed

  11. JTFish says:

    MEME USING TROLL?! I’ll have you know that I only used a meme ONCE!

  12. sage says:

    Hire me and I’ll blog about Seitokai at least twice a week. And blog about traps everyday.

    You know you want to.

  13. NovaJinx says:

    @kluxorious

    Why would I want to recruit a guy whose selling point is writing the same post over and over?
