Image Site Rage Act III – Failing, are they? Failing, are they? Well, let ‘em fail!

It’s been a couple months since I last posted my shitlist and I think it’s time to once again take a look at what the winter has brought to us avid consumers of online image sites. Broken English, zoom layers, horrific extraction and one-click texture effects welcome you to the wonderful world of anime-themed wallpapers once more!

Let’s start off the shallow end with this great example of upscale done wrong. Note that the image has been resized to fit the screen, so it’s actually quite a bit bigger and more blurred. I’d say the upscale ratio was something around 200%. Not to mention the tasteless layout to begin with, compression artifacts and whatnot. Why would anyone upload such a thing? Sometimes it just goes beyond my understanding.

As much as I like Durarara!!, I can’t ignore someone posting plain screenshots as supposedly wallpapers. First, unless you’re pretty damn blind, it just doesn’t look good. Second, if there are people visually impaired enough to use screenshots as wallpapers, all they need to do is take them themselves. You’d think that’s a lot more convenient that go out to a booru to look for some, don’t you think?

This guy sure takes the cake of the ones encountered on moe.imouto. He decided to upload a whole bunch of Tomb Raider renders for a reason beyond me. Not to mention that they were apparently leeched from some Lara-fansite with all the watermarks intact. Even the site’s tag line “Where the world revolves around Lara Croft.“. Must be pretty damn desolate world you speak of. Tomb Raider fans in this day and age? Oh please.

Uhh…I think you mistook this for 4chan. Though even there that pic would be older than the internets and your post saged to death before you finished reloading the page.

Brace yourselves, it’s time to leave the safe haven of moderated image sites and enter the murky world of various image boards, mostly of Japanese origin.

Yeah, it actually looks nice from a distance if you ignore the zoom layer. Then you become painfully aware of the nonexistent cleaning combined with horrible scanning and shitty extraction.

Once again the Japanese wallpaper boards leave me at a loss for words. But I think I puked in my mouth a bit…

HA HA OH WOW. I don’t remember where this one came from and I don’t think I want to.
