Ookami Kakushi is going to fail. Trust me on this. This show fits the same bill as Chaos;HEAd and 11eyes, there’s no denying it. Ookami Kakushi’s biggest selling point is that it’s based on a story by Ryukishi07, famous for Higurashi and Seakats. And so what? Chaos;HEAd was based on a VN by Nitroplus and Umineko was an adaptation of a popular VN. That didn’t stop Madhouse and DEEN from totally screwing everything up with the anime adaptations.
Ookami gives me extremely strong C;H-vibes. It looks nice and the setting is intriguing. What’s the deal with Isuzu? Why is everyone at school so damn buddy-buddy with Hiroshi? Why do people get killed the instant he transfers in? I can’t ignore the sheer potential of this kind of story setting. But I’ve seen this many times before, and I’ve seen it fail every single time due to shitty writing, inability to pull off a decent anime adaptation and poor budget. What’s the probability of Ookami Kakushi being any different? Next to nothing.
I say the chances are 8 to 2 that Ookami Kakushi will spiral down to the depths of shitty VN adaptations within the next 5 episodes. I remember Pararin insisting that the show will rock due to Ryukishi07, so will be hanging around just to make sure that I was right and he was wrong. The chance that Ookami Kakushi will not suck is next to none and even then whether or not it’s an actually good show is a whole different matter…
Well, we’re at episode 2 and already your predictions are beginning to come true. I’m giving it one more episode then I’m dropping this train wreck.
After 3 episodes I’m not really feeling it. Something seems wrong about it.
