Hatsukoi Limited – Impressions So Far and Relationship chart v.1
Author: nova
Let me begin by saying that Hatsukoi Limited is surprisingly good. Maybe it’s because J.C. Staff has less unwarranted ambition for the series or because of decent enough original works that even their adaptation couldn’t screw up, who knows. In any case the series has managed to be quite entertaining despite its rather plain looks, mainly thanks to some nice complex relationship mess it’s brewing up. Juggling around with several different characters with their individual relationships is a nice change to the more conventional approach in for example Tayutama, and it’s also refreshing to have bulk of the story told from the perspective of the female characters.
So no troubles in sight for now – the show has yet to explore Nao’s and Rika’s stories which will take at least a couple more episodes. The critical part of the show will be the point at which the production crew has to bring all these separate arcs together and break down the entire net they’ve woven without making it look like a trainwreck. That’s pretty much all I had to say, busting my ass in swing shift is working wonders in preventing me from writing TL;DR on the internets. Let me throw in a relationship chart based on observing the first four episodes of the anime. I will be posting updated versions as the show progresses.
A few notes: I was unsure about whether to add an arrow back from Rika to Haruto. A few spoilers later I judged that the anime hasn’t given enough data for me to do reliable work yet, so I will leave the arrow out for the time being. Same goes for the extent of Yuuji’s sister complex, I will leave the arrow yellow for now but I have a strong hunch that it will be red the next time around. Is it just anime or is the white trash lifestyle hot stuff in Japan? Koyoi now only needs to buy a trailer.
